Tinker Tool Rod
The Slime Tool Rod is a crafting component added by the Tinkers' Construct mod. It is one of the many available Tool Rods, which is most commonly used as the handle for tools. A stone tool rod with an obsidian binding and an iron axe head is a nice beginner tool (or you can use all iron). All you need to do to make an iron tool be able to mine obsidian is add a diamond onto it.

Tinker is a Smithing and Firemakingperk. It acts differently for each. It can be created in tool gizmos.
While firemaking, it has a 5% chance per rank per action to increase the experience gained from that action by 25%. It does not give extra experience for logs burned with Superheat Form. This extra XP is given as base XP, giving a corresponding increase in item XP and allowing it to be doubled with bonus XP.
While smithing, it has a 2% chance per rank to grant double progress for that swing, increasing the overall experience per hour.

- Tinker perk now increases chance for double progress when smithing.

- The Tinker perk now has a 5% chance per rank to give +25% XP, as opposed to the previous 1% chance per rank to give +10% XP.
